Peterborough CTC

Guided Family Leisure Cycle Rides

These cycle rides will be led by Sustrans Rangers and Travelchoice staff and there are free Travelchoice goodies available for all who attend. These rides are not being organised by CTC Peterborough but some of our members and their families will be riding.

Cycling John Clare Country
with refreshments at Clare Cottage

This circular route takes in a selection of northern Peterborough’s quaint rural villages, including Glinton, Etton and Helpston. This route is suitable for the whole family as the majority of the route is on quiet lanes and country roads; however, there is a railway bridge to negotiate and a couple of road crossings.

A break is planned at Clare Cottage (the home of John Clare, one of our most remarkable poets of the English countryside), approximately half way round, where discounted refreshments will be available (at your own expense).

The ride will be at a leisurely pace, approximately 8-10 miles per hour, so great for children to get involved.

For catering purposes if you are interesting in attending the ride, please e-mail travelchoice@peterborough.gov.uk

When Wednesday 2nd June
Meeting point Werrington Centre (outside the entrance to Werrington Sports Centre and the Library)
Time Ride leaves at 6:15pm
Distance 11 miles (inc. stops)

Cycling the Nassaburgh Trail
with a BBQ at Willow Brook Farm

This circular route takes in some of western Peterborough’s most scenic countryside and picturesque rural villages including: Castor, Ailsworth and Marholm. You will also pass Castor Hanglands Nature Reserve, where you can still see remnants of the historic hunting forest of Nassaburgh. The ride is predominantly on quiet lanes and country roads, but some negotiation of busier roads is required, therefore whilst this route is perfect for families, we would recommend only confident cyclists to attend.

A BBQ and other refreshments are planned at Willow Brook Farm (at your own expense), approximately half way round.

The ride will be at a leisurely pace, approximately 8-10 miles per hour, so great for children to get involved.

For catering purposes if you are interesting in attending the ride, please e-mail travelchoice@peterborough.gov.uk
