Lakes and Dales Loop

Dave King will be leading a hilly tarmac 3 day road tour around the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales Loop. The total distance will be around 196 miles and there will be approximately 15,000 ft of climbing overall over the three days. The ride will start in Penrith at 10am on Friday 7th June and finish back in Penrith on the Sunday afternoon. Overnight stops are at Gosforth (65 miles) and Kirkby Longsdale (68 miles).

Please note that you will need to arrange your own transport and accommodation. Arrangements for meeting up each morning will be confirmed nearer the time. A list of Hotels / B&Bs can be found HERE. The Lakes and the Dales are very busy during the summer months so you need to book accommodation sooner rather than later.

Dave King will be staying at The Kellbank, Gosforth for Friday 7th and at The Copper Kettle B&B in Kirkby Longdale on Saturday 8th.

Unless you are desperate to camp (best watch THIS YouTube video), you will only need evening clothes, wash kit, minimal cycling kit, wet weather gear, Phone/GPS chargers and snacks for the road. With all the climbing and in order to minimise weight, a large saddle bag is recommended rather than panniers.

There are plenty food-stops listed on the route map but obviously this is subject to change! Evening meals will be in a pub somewhere, with the Saturday night providing greater choice so that we may be able to eat together.

Everyone is welcome but each day will be equivalent of a hilly club A-Ride or Special. You are recommended to familiarise yourself with these before attempting this tour. There will be no bail out option on the route and pace will be our normal club speed.

If you fancy this mini tour let Dave King know by email on or by text on 07909 924975.
